Virgin Coconut Oil - Health Points

1. Virgin coconut oil contains high levels of lauric acid.  Lauric acid is beneficial in attacking viruses, bacteria and other such organisms and it builds the body's immune system just as mother milk does. Rich in vitamins A, B, C and E. helps to fight free radicals on the skin.

2. Most commercial creams and lotions are predominantly water.  Their moisture is absorbed quickly into dry skin, it expands the tissues, filling like a balloon with water, so that wrinkles fade and skin feels smoother.  This transformation is only temporary as water evaporates or is carried away by the blood stream, then the dry wrinkled skin returns.  Virgin coconut oil contains virtually no water.  Its small molecular structure allows for easy absorption down deep into the underlying layers of the skin, giving the skin a smooth soft texture which doesn't disappear as the oil does not evaporate.

The medium chain fatty acids found in coconut oil have been found to rev up the body's sluggish metabolism and promote weight loss.  These are carried straight to the liver were they are directly converted into energy, not stored by the body as fat as are most dietary fats.  The benefits of increased metabolism include protection from illness and increased healing speeds.  When metabolism is increased, cells function at a higher rate of efficiency - they heal injuries quicker, old and diseased cells are replaced faster, young new cells are generated at an increased rate to replace won out ones.  The immune system functions better.
